Egda Escorcia HBSc, MSc, MScPT, FCAMPT

Registered Physiotherapist

Egda completed an Honours Bachelor of Science, followed by a Master of Science degree in Chemistry at the University of Toronto. Introspection during her scientific career led her to realize that she was most satisfied by the “human element” in her work, and therefore changed paths and obtained her Master of Science in Physical Therapy degree from the University of Toronto. In 2019, Egda completed her Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy curriculum, and is now a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT). This internationally recognized qualification indicates the highest level of training in orthopaedics. It is an advanced certification that translates to improved and specialized patient care with particular attention to the kinetic chain approach for assessments and treatments, especially in relation to the spine, as well as the biopsychosocial framework for pain management.

Egda is a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, including the Orthopaedic, Sport and Women’s Health divisions. She has training in Acupuncture and Dry Needling, Advanced Shoulder Treatment, Sports Taping, and Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Pain. Currently, she is furthering her studies in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy, enabling the continued evolution of her practice in general orthopaedics, athletics, and spinal-pelvic-hip pain and conditions. She has substantial experience working with patients across all age groups and with varying conditions, including repetitive strain injuries, trauma, post-surgical rehabilitation, acute and chronic pain, and athletic injuries.

Egda’s treatment focuses on manual therapy techniques, pain management, education and exercise prescription. She highly emphasizes ongoing patient understanding and education regarding the injury or condition, goal-oriented treatment plans, and prevention. Her decision to work with individuals looking to improve their quality of life has been, and continues to be, extremely educational and rewarding. She is proud to be reaching her 5-year mark with the Fairlawn Physiotherapy Team.
